When it rains on Monday, you go to Tuesday.
This was for my Basic Portrait class. It was our "Outdoor Portrait." We had to use a classmate for this assignment. I was gone the day they drew names and this is the person I ended up getting. She is great. This was my first time shooting a portrait using available lighting and also just learning posing. They look a little amateur but I am still learning. I first shot her last Thursday but wasn't impressed with what I had gotten. I had Monday as a re-shoot just in case. It ended up raining on Monday. I should probably tell you this was due on Wednesday (tomorrow). So we went out today and just shot a few. I ended up really liking them a lot. At least a few of them. She was great to work with and we found a lot of neat locations for future photo shoots. I'm super pumped for our next assignment now. I hope you enjoy these!

Sometimes, you've just got to improvise
This was for my Personality Portrait for my PJ class. Had a few different ideas and most of them fell through. I guess that happens every once in a while. Anyways, I decided to go with someone who likes to read. A lot. I first photographed one of my best friends and then was going to use my roommate who also loves to read. Was able to get a few shots from that but nothing that jumped out at me. So I used my other roommate who likes to read but wouldn't do it all the time just because. So I had her stand in as my model. We went to her aunt and uncle's house. They have this HUGE bookshelf which actually worked out perfectly. So I set up there and this is what I came up with. If I could, I would have done a few things differently. I'll know for next time. It's all a learning experience, as they say. I've learned.

Cotton Candy and Cowboy Hats
Hey guys, haven't been on here in quite some time. Went to the Cattle Congress today to shoot my "Feature" assignment for my photojournalism class. We had to go and find something that spoke "feature" and this is what I came up with. These two little cutties were getting cotton candy with their mother when I saw them. They were just too cute to pass up. I went up to their mother and asked if I could take their picture, after explaining who I was and what I was doing. At first I thought I had found the wrong parent to ask, she looked mean. Then she said that would be fine, no problem. So I took a few pictures and this is the one that I liked the best. PJ, is a little nerve wracking. It's intimidating to have to go up to people and ask if they can have their picture taken and then find out their names. All in all, it was a good experience.

Boys Will Be Boys
Sunday afternoon, about a month ago, these adorable, yet very energetic and even cranky boys stopped by my house with their mom (my cousin) and dad. She had asked me to take the boys pictures a while ago and this is when it just happened to work out. I started with the middle child and all seemed to go well. He even seemed to enjoy it. Then the youngest went. That was a different story. He had just woken up from a nap. Not exactly the best time to be taking a 2 year old's picture. We decided to photograph the oldest child instead. He was very into it and I had gotten many goofy faces out of him. We try the youngest again and it was the same story. We then move to a different location, down by the stream. I'd say a few decent pictures came out of that but still had a very tired little boy. Then we moved up to our pond. The boys seemed to enjoy that one, seeing as they were engrossed in watching the fish. Took a few there, then, once again, tried to take the youngest boy's picture. He calmed down a bit but I think you can see, overall, still not a very happy camper. I guess as they say, Boys Will Be Boys.

"Let's hope we find our way out."
Last night Melissa came to visit from Ames. Melissa, Jennifer, and myself went to eat at the OP on the Hill. After coming back from there, she (Melissa) got ready for her photo shoot. After getting her "Taylor Swift curls" done (ha ha), we were ready to go. Jen, being my "assistant" for the night carried my bags for me. Love her for that. So we set out on our journey to find a place to take these pictures. Literally driving on all these gravel roads to find the right place, we eventually did. And no, I am not going to tell you where it is. You'll get over it. Besides, I'm not even sure I know how to get back there. Anyways, we finally find our place and walk through all these weeds and whatnot. Jen and I wore flip-flops, Melissa wore boots. Bet you can figure out who the smart one was. Me, thinking out loud, said "I hope there are no snakes out here" (revised that a little bit), which of course freaked the other two out. So we take a few pictures and then a few more. I have quite a few funny ones of Melissa's facial expressions. For those of you that know her, that is not uncommon. Maybe I'll post them, maybe I won't. After our adventure with these photos, we head back. We get back to my apartment and look at the photos. And that's that.
Now onto a new subject. It just so happens that both Jen and Melissa happen to have this thing called "Blogger." Welp, I use Tumblr. Apparently this "Blogger" thing is even better. Of course I have to try it out. Giving me troubles and troubles and troubles, I finally get it to work...this morning. This is my first "real" blog. I'm just trying to figure this thing out right now, so be patient. I will post more of the photos I took of Melissa once I get more edited. But for now, enjoy what is here. Also, if you don't like my blog, don't read it. Simple as that. Yes, I realize I state that at the end so you read the majority of it but that's what a smart person would do. But if you were smart, you would have stopped reading a long time ago. Ok, that's all for now. Enjoy!
